Federal President Steinmeier receives newly accredited ambassadors in Berlin

The handover of letters of credence at Schloss Bellevue officially marks the beginning of each ambassador’s mission in Germany. The ceremony, accompanied by the military honor guard, shows both the recognition of the diplomats and the strengthening of Germany’s bilateral ties.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed four newly appointed ambassadors to Schloss Bellevue. During the formal ceremony, the envoys from Argentina, Brazil, Vietnam, and Barbados handed over their letters of credence. The diplomats from Argentina, Brazil, Vietnam, and Barbados were welcomed with full military honors by the Bundeswehr’s guard battalion.

Argentina — Betina Pasquali de Fonseca

Betina Pasquali de Fonseca, Argentina's new ambassador, was previously Director for Europe at her country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her diplomatic career includes ambassadorial posts in Norway, Iceland and El Salvador as well as positions in Austria and Canada.

Brazil — Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares

The Federative Republic of Brazil is now represented by Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares, who was most recently ambassador to Moscow. During his career, he held diplomatic posts in Peru, Mozambique, Argentina, France and Paraguay and also represented Brazil at the United Nations.

Vietnam — Dac Thanh Nguyen

From the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Dac Thanh Nguyen handed over his credentials at Bellevue Palace. The trained economist most recently headed the Department for Party Affairs at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He gained experience abroad in Great Britain and China.

Barbados — Nicolla Simone Rudder

Nicolla Simone Rudder takes up her role as Ambassador of Barbados, while also being accredited in Belgium. Prior to this post, she served as Permanent Secretary at both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport and Works in Barbados. She has worked abroad in the United States, Canada, and at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva.
