The International Club at the Foreign Office (ICAA) invited diplo.news to introduce itself and shed light on the topic of ‘The Failure of Diplomacy’.

Sixty members and guests of the ICAA came to get to know the team and the idea behind diplo.news. Almost the entire ICAA Board of Directors was present. The introduction was carried out by Dr. Niels von Redecker, Head of the Western Balkans Division at the Foreign Office.

Editor-in-chief Gudrun Dometeit, former foreign director of Focus magazine, publisher Ewald König as well as head of marketing Huong To introduced themselves and the online medium and answered curious and critical questions from ICAA guests, some of whom felt quite provoked by the title “The Failure of Diplomacy.”

Meeting with specialist media

By invitation of the ICAA, relatively new media outlets on the German market such as Politico, table.media and diplo.news provide information on current and fundamental topics in foreign policy and diplomacy and discuss them with the members and guests of the renowned club.

The ICAA is based on the top floor of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin-Mitte. The club rooms, which include a restaurant, a bar and event rooms, are located on the 7th floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the part of the building that used to serve as the Reichsbank.

The club is not only attractive as a meeting place for those interested in diplomacy, but also for architecture nostalgics: those who do not wish to use the lift after passing through the airport-like security check at the entrance at Kurstraße 36 can take the paternoster, one of Berlin's last, to the top floor.
